Luton Council are looking for x2 Advanced Occupational Therapists to undertake double handed care reviews in line with the project being undertaken within the department. We need experienced practitioners with expertise in manual handling. This project is providing an opportunity of a 12 month contract therefore we are looking for candidates that can commit to this period of time.
The Adult Social Care Division exists to promote the independence, inclusion and well-being of all adults with social care needs. It aims to do this by enabling people to: • Have control over their lives.• Live safe, healthy and fulfilled lives.•Have an active role in a stronger and prosperous community.•Access the support they need in order to be as independent as they choose. You will be expected to provide professional support, leadership and line management to qualified and some unqualified social workers and other staff as directed, who form part of an integrated multi-disciplinary team that includes qualified and unqualified social workers, occupational therapists, and related support services. The Team’s role will be to promote the independence of adults and older people in need of community care services and their carers by assessing their needs, promoting enablement and reablement, providing equipment and support and arranging personal budgets or person centred care services for those with long term needs. Customers will include adults with physical disabilities, sensory impairment, dementia and related problems (other than clients managed by the Mental Health Trust) and other residents with multiple needs at risk of harm or neglect, and their carers, in accordance with the statutory responsibilities of the Local Authority.
Specifications
- Substantial post qualifying experience including in-depth experience of complex case work.
- Experience of - rehabilitation work - safe transfers – using hoists and different aids, techniques - manual handling
- Must be flexible and able to work at a fast pace
- Must be a car driver with access to their own transport
- HCPC registration
