Social Work Practice Consultants are Advanced Social Work Professionals assigned to Localilty/Teams working closely with the Principal Child and Family Social Worker. They are accountable to a Team Manager.
The Social Work Practice Consultant role offers a fantastic opportunity for an experienced and skilled social worker to take the next step up the career ladder whilst maintaining a clear focus on frontline social work practice. To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate an understanding of what constitutes the highest quality social work practice. You will also need to be able to mentor, develop and supervise less experienced colleagues in achieving improvement whilst supporting team managers to create a culture focused around excellence and continuous improvement.
Social Work Practice Consultants are able to provide supplementary supervision and mentoring to ASYE and less experienced social workers. The Social Work Practice Consultant can hold a proportionate number of complex cases across a locality district area/team, ensuring that the social care needs of children are fully assessed and that services are delivered, monitored and reviewed in accordance with relevant legislation and departmental polices and procedures. The Social Work Practice Consultant will be working in partnership with the Team Manager, Locality Staff and others to ensure that effective continuous development of staff and the team in delivering quality services improving practice. The Social Work Practice Consultant will provide support to all practice supervisors and students undertaking a placement in the team.
Specifications
Significant post-qualifying experience in child care social work, including experience in safeguarding and looked after children and training relevant to this post.Demonstrable expertise in assessments, including assessments for Court.Experience of providing specialist practice advice, mentoring or reflective supervision to othersProfessional Social Work Qualification e.g. DipSW / CQSW / CSSHCPC registered
